The RS 2400 is Rad Source's high-dose, moderate volume, production irradiator utilizing our patented 4pi emitters (U.S. Patent 7346147). The RS 2400 can be configured with various size canisters to meet many density and volume requirements.
The rotating canister carousel insures uniform irradiation in each canister (see diagram below):
The 360° rotation of the canisters, the high dose rate and the high average kV from a gold target allows for fast processing times and low minimum to maximum ratios. Adjustable filtration refines dose distribution even further.
The RS 2400 has the advantage of being a high dose rate x-ray irradiator in a compact, light-weight, self-contained cabinet. It meets the CDRH Cabinet X-ray requirements and does not require a secure or shielded operation room.
- 5 canister configuration at 3.69L per canister = 18.45L per cycle
- Dose rate of 10Gy/min (1000Rads/min) to 40 Gy (4000 rads) per minute.
- Beam Uniformity: Better Than ±3% within a 6" Radius from Beam Center Line

The equipment is simple to operate. The object is placed inside the chamber and an exposure time is entered via the interactive touch screen. Activation of the start button initiates the irradiation procedure as well as the count down timer. The timer automatically stops the irradiation at the selected interval.
